Another week of City to Bay Training, Monday was dry this week and not so much wind, so a good training run was anticipated. The lap times are quite fast in relation to other weeks times, my new thinking is to push my lap speed on Monday and Friday and on Wednesday slow down but increase the number of laps and see how I feel. this will help my City to Bay final time.

Wednesday
the weather was looking better the sun was out and a run was on the wind was light but it was quite cold. I am running in my jumper all the time now. The times were a bit slower as planned but I did the extended number of laps with a consistent speed, I wasn't so good for my running team mate Johnny he pulled up with a calf strain on lap 13.

Friday was a solo run managed to do the 13 laps in good speed, not as fast as monday thou I think the longer run on Wednesday was still there in my legs. Verty happy with the progress overall, you can see my time here. No pain in the knees or joints so far which is good for my City to Bay fun run in September. I am starting to loose a bit of weight I have noticed. Allways a good thing.

Hi Gang We find ourselves at the end of another week of City to Bay Training, Monday was the same as last week Rained all day and I don't run in the rain just a rule that I have.

Wednesday was looking better the sun was out and a run was on the wind was very strong and it was quite cold so I grabbed my jumper to wear just to give me a bit more warmth. The time were a bit slow as I lost some stamina because of missing out on Mondays run bit did the 13 laps never the less. The oval was in very good condition

The next run was on Friday as planned, this time I felt a bit fitter and this reflected in my faster running times you can see my time here. So far no pain in the knees or joints so far which is good for my City to Bay fun run in September.

Well this was an interesting week of City to Bay Training, Moday started off with heavy rain in the morning but it cleared up by lunch time so we ventured out for our run. The oval was water logged in places that made it a bit squelchy in parts but hey it is winter over here.

The next run was on Thursday as we had to give Wednesday a miss due to some urgent repaires to my motor bike helmet ( but thats another story ) , This time is was dry but the wind was blowing quite hard, I think the wind chill made me run a bit faster probably to warm up more. The Training Run ended with the usual streches you can see my time here.

Well it's almost time to start the 12 week City to Bay Training for this years event. This is the training that I and my fellow runners will be following. (...)

Well it's almost time to start the 12 week City to Bay Training for this years event. This is the training that I and my fellow runners will be following.

First find yourself an place were you are comfortable in running, We use a local footy oval I find running the City to Bay Training on grass is a bit softer on your knees and other joints. The oval is 440 meters for one lap so the training will follow lap numbers and times.

Start out with 1 lap and aim for 2mins 45 sec

Your next target will be a 4 lap set in under 11mins

Your next target will be 2 sets in 22mins then 3 sets in 33mins getting to 6 sets in 66min this will be approx 12K's

Then on the day of the run you might be able to shave of those 6mins and do the whole run in under the hour, this is the ultimate goal (for me anyway )

Well time to get training I will be posting my progress when I start my 12 week countdown to the City to Bay Training in a couple of weeks, If you have any questions feel free to drop me a message and any comment are welcome also.
